Welcome to La Vela, a hidden gem nestled in the heart of Guanajuato, Mexico. This charming eatery, located at 36000, Constancia 6, Zona Centro, serves up a vibrant selection of mariscos that perfectly encapsulates the coastal flavors of Mexico.

At the core of La Vela's appeal is its stellar seafood menu, where every dish is a delightful celebration of freshness and creativity. Patrons rave about the shrimp tacos, heralded as some of the best in town, while the tuna tostadas are equally lauded for their flavor-packed punch. The ingredients are carefully sourced, ensuring that each bite reflects the coastal provenance of the dishes.

The ambiance at La Vela strikes a perfect balance between chill and vibrant. With melodic roots music playing in the background, diners can lose themselves in a relaxed environment while savoring culinary creations. This is a place where great food meets a great atmosphere—a true sanctuary for seafood lovers.

On a recent visit, I had the pleasure of indulging in their micheladas paired with the renowned aguachile ceviche. The ceviche stood out with its bright, zesty flavors that sang of freshness, while the marlin tacos served on blue corn tortillas added a clever twist that left me craving more. Every dish is crafted with care, making it evident that La Vela prioritizes both ingredient quality and presentation.

I also encountered a minor controversy surrounding an art display that challenges religious norms. However, I admire the establishment's commitment to artistic expression, as it invites conversation and reflection amidst a great culinary experience.

With its small seating area, La Vela can get quite busy, a testament to its popularity among locals and tourists alike. Be prepared for a cash-only experience, but rest assured, the flavors and service more than compensate for any minor inconveniences. This lively spot is sure to become one of your favorites in Guanajuato, where each dish tells a story and every visit feels like a culinary adventure.

Whether you're a local or just passing through, don't miss your chance to experience the magic of La Vela. I can't wait to return for another unforgettable meal.

Great shrimp tacos. We were going to get more food and drink but the place is a cash only establishment. The music was roots!

This was the best meal I had while in Guanajuato. Good service and great food. I strongly recommended it, everything is delicious. All employees are great too. I had their micheladas, fish and shrimp tacos, ceviche and tuna tostadas. All 5/5 Side note: I wasn't a fan of an art image the mocks the catholic faith. I wish they would remove it but if they don't, it is their business and their right to have it. I support freedom of expression, even when I don't like it. Lol

Good little place for fresh sea food. Ambience is a nice and relaxed with great music playing. Service was good. We tried the shrimp cocktail that came beautifully garnished and good size shrimps. The fish ceviche was super fresh and tasty. Than Marlin taco was enjoyable too.

Incredible lunch spot that has a clever twist on classic mariscos. The marlin tacos on blue corn tortillas were awesome along with the aguachile ceviche (highest recommendations!!). Don't miss this chill spot on your visit to Gto. MX! Very fresh, great flavors and hip environment. Thank you! We will return!! This popular place has a small seating area, so you might have to have a later lunch to snag one.

The first restaurant we went to in Guanajuato. Our waiter was friendly and helped us with our bad Spanish! The food was delicious. We had tacos, gorditas, and Pulpo empanada. We had never had gorditas before, and they are my new favourite Mexican food! Prices are very reasonable.
